I believe that homework is necessary for practicing skills that have been learned but not necessarily mastered or for enriching the classroom experience. In some cases, homework is simply class work that was not finished. I try to give ample time in class for the completion of most assignments, however some students need more time on certain concepts and can finish at home.

This year students will be working toward mastery in reading comprehension and multiplication tables.

The following should be completed.

Monday > Read for 20 minutes, study spelling words and complete any worksheets that may come home.
Tuesday > Read for 20 minutes, complete any worksheets that may come home and practice multiplication tables.
Wednesday > Read for 20 minutes, study spelling words and complete any worksheets that may come home.
Thursday > Read for 20 minutes and practice multiplication tables..

If for some reason your child does not get his homework home, or you feel that he needs more work you can always do one of the following: have your child read and retell what he/she read by writing it down,  write a story using weekly spelling words, practice math skills such as multiplication tables or quick addition, subtraction drills.  If you have a computer you can go to http:earthdayaz.tripod.com, click on cool sites and visit some of the sites.

** The above homework may vary depending on the need at the time.
